First interview and introduction through Teams
You will have a personal interview with our Recruiter via Teams to discuss your skills, experience, and cultural fit. Our Recruiter will also introduce you to Merito and our values and standards.
Online assessment
A positive introductory interview? In that case, we will ask you to complete an online assessment, where we will test your cognitive abilities and personality to further assess your skills and suitability for the position.
In-depth interview at our office
The second interview will take place with Olivier or Michael (management), during which the test results will be discussed, and we will delve deeper into your motivation to become an HR consultant and a potential match.
It's a match! Contract proposal
If all the previous steps have been successfully completed, you will receive a job contract proposal from us. This proposal will include all the details of the role, employment conditions, and other relevant information.

FAQ
What is the length of an assignment?
The length of an assignment depends on several aspects: how long does the client need support, do you have enough challenge in your assignment,... On average, an assignment takes 6 months, but this can vary from one month to one year and a half or even 2 years.
Do I need to help looking for new assignments?
Our consultants can always notify us of possible new opportunities they hear of in their network, at the client,... But it's not mandatory. Our managing partners are in charge of looking for new clients and assignments. However, if you do find a new assignment and we can assign this to one of our consultants for at least 2 months, you will receive a referral bonus.
Will I get some guidance during my assignments?
Yes, we stay in close contact and offer guidance during your assignment. On a monthly basis, you'll have a check-in with your coach to discuss how you're feeling, how the assignment is going, if you need help with anything,... On top of that, you can also count on the knowledge and expertise of our Merito network and your colleagues.
Can I choose my own assignments?
We always keep in mind your expertise, interests and ambitions when looking for assignments. The region preference you have will also be kept in mind while looking for new assignments.
Are there also assignments in Soft HR?
Merito is mostly known for its Hard HR expertise, but from time to time we can support our clients with Soft HR tasks as well. If you are experienced in these HR domains, you will certainly be considered for these assignments.
What happens in case I have no assignment?
It can happen that two assignments are not perfectly aligned in timing. In this case, you will be able to assist in internal assignments or smaller ad hoc assignments, or you can follow additional trainings. In general, this period only takes a few days or weeks, and gives you the chance to broaden your knowledge. You'll be able to start your new assignment with a fresh mind.
Will I be in touch with my fellow HR consultants?
Of course! We organize lots of trainings and activities to which all our consultants are invited. We also have a Whatsapp group to stay connected and in which we can share payroll advice.
Can I follow trainings through Merito?
Yes, this is certainly possible. At Merito, personal development is very important. Our annual training plan consists of at least 5 training days which are determined by the hot topics of that year, the payroll calender and social legislation. In case you find an additional interesting training, you can always apply for an individual training.
What will my salary consist of?
Based on your relevant HR experience and competences, we will attribute you a correct function category. This category will determine your base salary and the advantages that go with it. Merito offers a broad variety of advantages such as a company car, a collective bonus, meal and eco vouchers, hospitalisation and group insurance, home working and internet allowances, a phone subscription,...
How much holidays does Merito offer?
At Merito we work in a 40 hours week, which means you are entitled to 1 day RWH. In addition to your 20 legal holidays, you will thus receive 12 days of RWH. As from your 5 years seniority, you will receive an additional holiday per trench of 5 years seniority.
Can I work from home at Merito?
This will depend on your assignment and client. Most of our clients agree to telework for consultants, if this is in lign with the policy they have for their own employees.
In which regions can I work as an HR consultant?
Merito has clients spread out accross Flemish Brabant, Antwerp and partly in Wallonia. We also have clients in Limburg, Brussels and Ghent. Our headquarters are located in Diegem and Berchem (Antwerp).
Can I also work part-time at Merito?
Our Merito consultants work at least 80% or full-time hours.
What happens if I don't like my assignment?
In case you have no challenge in your assignment, we will discuss this with the client to try and find a solution. If your situation does not improve afterwards, we will look for another assignment.
